Brief Thoughts on Relationships and Marriage

We’ve all heard that a mate ought to be compatible, and attractive in three areas: spiritually, physically, and personality-wise. Once you get past the general state of those, they can be broken down into more detailed items, of course, and a balance of the these is what is desired.

“He can’t lead spiritually, but he’s so hot!” Not good. “

“He’s not attractive to me, but he’s so passionate for the Lord, and funny.”  Not gonna work.

“Our personalities are so similar, and he’s really good looking, but he doesn’t really spend much time in the Word.”  Run away!

“He’s such a godly leader, with great character and a man of the Word, our personalities are similar but unique, and he’s attractive to me.” Now you’re getting somewhere.  You at least have a solid foundation. The rest will take time to be revealed.  If he’s all of the above, but a slob, and you’re OCD about cleaning…that could be a problem…or it could be a challenge that grows you both, and teaches you to compromise.  Once you get passed the initial excitement etc., if you think that you can be unconditionally committed to a man who may constantly leave his underwear and towel on the bathroom floor, and only on the fifth time of being asked will he take the trash out; and if you can live unconditionally with a woman who who always wants to know every detail of your day, and you just want to come home and drink beer, and watch football…er, well, you get the idea.

Anyway, what I really wanted to say-taking into account the above; clearly there are more things involved- there are two things I’ve come to want to know in a man:

1. Can you lead me?
2. Are you safe? (How will you handle my heart?)

These encompass so much, and I am out of time to elaborate presently, but feel free to share your thoughts.

There’s just Something about Fall

Things I like about Autumn:
     -cooler weather
     -changing leaves
     -candy pumpkins
     -pumpkin pie
     -Thanksgiving
     -seeing family and friends
     -the smell of the air
-bringing out long sleeves, sweaters, and scarves
-it’s that much closer to Christmas
-being outside is a must, and a pleasure
-Pumpkin flavored anything (seasonal items like Pumpkin Spice Lattes, and Caramel Apple Cider)
-French Vanilla Cool Whip; the completion to a perfect pumpkin pie
     -camping and camp fires

As the air cools my heart is warmed
As leaves change and pumpkins are carved
The Autumn season brings newness to all
There’s just something about Fall

The colors are majestic; the air crisp and clean
Not one can deny a touch of His hand is seen
Beauty for which praise is called
There’s just something about Fall

100 Years Later…

Here are a few pictures from my Siegen, Germany mission trip.
This was taken at the top of the very steep hill we climbed several times a day walking through downtown Siegen handing out tracts and talking to people.

Döner kebab - a MUST if you're in Germany, and the fries are awesome!

It's bigger in person, but that's a hole from a WWII bomb; they were all over this beautiful forest area. We hiked this trail to climb a WWI watch tower overlooking the city.

"The Dome"-we took a day before going home to take a train to Cologn. This church was so big, and so intricately ornamented cameras cannot do it justice.
It was impossible to capture even a part of the building without being very, very far away, and impossible to capture the detail without being very close.

Even though I almost died 14 times climbing the smallest, darkest, tallest spiral staircase in the world, the view from the top of the church was glorious

Oh my goodness. Duck, carrots, and potatoes in the best sauce ever created. We got to eat at an outside restaurant with a view of "The Dome." Not a bad way to spend our last night.

Well, as you can imagine, this is only a very small portion of the 500 something pictures, not to mention video that I took.  Hopefully this gives you an idea of some of the beauty that is Deutschland.
